About Donations

100% of all donations by the general public pay for the costs of the gifts and shipping. The Globe donates the labor and administrative costs to run the program in the three basic areas: selecting and packaging the toys; verifying the letters from more than 32,000 family requests; and collecting and listing the donations. The Globe also donates the space in the newspaper and on-line.

Toys, books and other items are creatively procurred in advance by The Boston Globe and stored until November. Toys are selected and packed and sent directly to the home.
